Sandra Cashmore from Alva Glen Heritage Trust has been in touch asking us to share the following appeal.
This is an appeal for donations for our tombola stall at the illuminations (to be held on 16th September this year). If you have any unwanted Christmas/birthday gifts or would like to donate some sweets, home made jam/chutney, soft drinks, soft toys, toiletries etc. they would be most welcome. Please note we cannot have alcohol as this is a family event and the terms of our public entertainment licence do not permit alcohol on the premises.
If you are able to donate any items could you please drop them off to me at 182 D West Stirling St. Alva, preferably before 10th August or during the week beginning 21st August. If you have kindly volunteered to help, Claire or myself will be in touch towards the end of the end of August with more details. If you have not yet volunteered and would like to there is still time, just contact myself or Claire.
Secretary, Alva Glen Heritage Trust
For our previous fun days we have saved money by playing royalty free tunes in the park, but with this being a superhero themed event we figured that having music from Superman, Batman, Avengers, Iron Man,Wonder Woman, Spiderman etc. would help make for a better fun day. Since this was a community event those licensing people at PRS for Music gave us a discounted license so that we could use TV and movie tunes on the day in return for a shout out on our website.
Thanks you to everyone who enjoyed our Fun Day on Saturday. Here are a few photos. If you have any you would like to share please email them to firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll add them to the gallery.
Hiring space, bouncy castles, jugglers etc. takes a chunk out of our events budget as do many other expenses involved in running our Fun day, Christmas Fayre and any other events we run throughout the year.
If you enjoy these events and would like to help us fund them then please consider making a donation using the Paypal Donate button on the left.
We would like to take this opportunity to all who have donated via our collecting tins over the last few years. Our Christmas lights fund is now covered by a grant from EDF energy, so henceforth all donations received will go to our events fund to ensure Alva enjoys our events for many years to come.
Sometime between Tuesday 2nd of May and Monday 8th of May the urn disappeared from the kitchen of Alva Scout Hall. It is a Berco Signet 20 litre water boiler in case anyone spots someone trying to fence such a thing locally. Any help getting it back would be greatly appreciated.
Alva Primary P.T.A. are hosting a plant sale on Monday 22nd May from 9am – 3:15pm. Proceeds will go to Alva Primary and Scottish Autism.
Contact the Elderly have asked us to promote their “Time for Tea” initiative in Clackmannanshire. Anyone interested should visit their website or email Janice Kerr.
