Stevie McCrorie, 2015 winner of BBC’s ‘The Voice’ will be ‘flicking the switch’ at the Alva Christmas Tree Lights Switch On. Christmas celebrations are kicking off in Alva on Saturday 28 November with the tree lights switch-on and Christmas Fayre.
Tickets for the event are £2.50, under 5’s are free, children 6 to 16 and over 60’s are £1.50. Tickets are available at Higglety Pigglety shop in Alva town centre, price includes entry plus tea, coffee or juice and cake also a tot of mulled wine at the lights switch-on. Alternatively, pay on entry (if there is spare capacity in the hall).
Alva Community Council are hosting the event in the Cochrane Hall, Alva from 2pm. Alva Primary School Carol Singers will enchant the crowds at approx. 2.05pm finishing off with Jingle Bells in the hope that Santa will hear it and be enticed along to the Fayre with his Elves, there will be a grotto ready for him just in case so children (and adults) will be able to tell Santa what they’d like for Christmas. At approx. 2.45pm Alva Academy Dancers will perform and there will also be face painting, refreshments and tombola.
At 3.30pm approx. special guest Stevie McCrorie will entertain the crowds in the Cochrane Hall with a few songs including his brand new single My Heart Never Lies, which was released recently. Then at 4pm Stevie will ‘flick the switch’ of the Christmas lights on the tree in the park adjacent to the hall.
There will be an array of delightful stalls selling gifts and crafts from local groups and businesses, providing an ideal opportunity to pick up a few stocking fillers for all the family.
