At our October 2015 meeting the police brought to our attention an issue that had occurred in September. Emergency services were called to deal with a fire at Strude Mill. On attempting to reach Strude Mill they found it impossible to get the fire engine there due to badly parked vehicles in Braehead and Robertson Street.
The police asked us to pass on their request that parking is done considerately so that emergency vehicles can get through if they need to. On this occasion the emergency was dealt with before the fire engine got there, however in a serious emergency where lives are at risk the emergency services are entitled to force their way through with no liability for any damage they may cause.
So please, if parking your car in Alva try to do so in a manner that facilitates access.
