We have been asked by our MP’s constituency office to let people know that the Gate food bank in Alloa are asking people to donate Advent calendars to be distributed with food parcels toward the end of November. Here’s the message in full.
Over the festive period I will be working in partnership with The Gate foodbank in Alloa. The Gate is a vital part of our community with a fantastic team behind it. With Christmas just around the corner, their role is even more important given the increased pressure on family budgets and the expected increase in their work providing support to people in urgent material need. As of October, The Gate, have so far helped 2,722 people – which includes 976 children – this year, with 56,329 meals being provided, to put this in context they have provided more meals than the whole population of Clackmannanshire. That’s why we are joining together to appeal for advent calendars to be donated that can be sent out with food parcels in the last two weeks of November. Christmas is a season of good will and generosity and the team at The Gate are hoping that local residents and businesses can embrace the Christmas spirit early. Advent Calendars can be dropped off at The Gate’s trolley at, Tesco’s, Asda and Morrison’s in Alloa or directly at The Gate at 2 Ludgate, Alloa. Alternatively, I am opening up my constituency office in Alloa Business Centre as a collection point for advent calendars from 9am to 5pm every weekday. Any donations would be gratefully received. Thank you very much in advance, Tasmina Ahmed-Sheikh
