You may have noticed that the dark evenings are a little brighter in Alva this year thanks to the Christmas Lights as organised by the Community Council. We’re not finished yet though. More lights will be appearing on Thursday December 5th, so come on out to the late night Christmas shopping and associated events to witness the new lights. Councillor Archie Drummond has asked us to link to his article regarding Christmas lights in the Hillfoots, and since he gives us a mention we’re only too happy to oblige. http://www.your-councillor.com/archie-drummond/news/?newsid=380
We have received the following information regarding the Annual Review of NHS Forth Valley. The invitation to attend is open to the public, but if you wish to attend then please let them know ASAP as the deadline is 28th November. Here are the details.
Invitation to the Annual Review of
NHS Forth Valley on Monday 9th December 2013
The Annual Review of our performance during 2012/13 will take place on Monday 9th December 2013 in the Lecture Theatre at Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert from 1.15pm to 2:30pm. Everyone is welcome and we would be delighted if you could make it along as we are keen to encourage as many local people, patient representatives, community groups and local organisations from across Forth Valley to attend.
The format of this year’s Review has changed to make it shorter and more focussed on our key performance, challenges and achievements during the period as well as a forward look. These areas will be highlighted in two short presentations by NHS Forth Valley’s Chairman, Alex Linkston and Alex Neil, Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing followed by a Q&A session where the audience will have the opportunity to ask questions (please note that it will not be possible to answer questions on patient-specific issues).
If you would like to attend it would helpful if you could let us know by 28th November 2013 and advise us of any special requirements. We would also appreciate it if you could share this information with any colleagues, friends or family members who may be interested in attending.

Gary D’Arcy of Rhymemaker Productions found some old footage of Alva from the 1940s. He has uploaded them to youtube and kindly agreed to let us post them here. Gary tells me he is trying to find out who made the footage. If he finds out we’ll let you know. Perhaps you may know yourself? Email email@example.com, or head over to our facebook page and post a comment if you think you can help trace the film maker, or can provide information on some of the people in the videos. Enjoy.
